Description MATERIALS:Mashru and cotton cloth, cotton threads.
CONSTRUCTION: Hand stitched, embroidered, chain stitch.
MOTIFS: Stripes.
COLOURS : Red, black and yellow.
STYLE REMARKS: Skirt is gathered with small pleats called 'chin' the traditional style. This mashru is rayon probably woven in Patan, as compared to cotton mashru woven in Kutch. See 134.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: This particular pattern was used by Kachhi Rabaris as a skirt for brides, chorno for grooms and skirts for children.
STYLE REMARKS: Production of cotton Mashru in Mandvi area of Kachchh ended in mid 1990s. Today polyester replicas are made.
