Description MATERIALS: Cotton cloth, cotton and silk threads, mirrors, beads, buttons, cowries, iron bolt, tassels and wrapped string.
CONSTRUCTION: Hand stitched, stuffed, embroidered, square chain, cretan, buttonhole filling, buttonhole, detached chain stitches.
MOTIFS: Popti, makodiyun and gotto.
COLOURS : Multicoloured on dark maroon and black.
STYLE REMARKS: The long curved head and long tail are characteristic of Dhebaria Rabari popats. Bead work and tassels are also more elaborate.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Hung over baby's cradle for amusement. The iron bolt is to keep away evil eye.
CULTURAL REMARKS: This parrot toy is common throughout Sindh, Kachchh and Saurashtra.
