Ornaments

Ornaments are an essential part of traditional dress. Ornaments communicate community, age, and marital status, as well as beautify the wearer. Kala Raksha's collections include the complete set of Rabari women, children and men's gold and silver ornaments. Today many of these ornaments are forgotten or worn only for marriage. Others have come to symbolize the community and are worn even with Western dress.

Ornaments also tell of origins. The Maru Meghvals originated in Rajasthan centuries ago. Kala Raksha has collected the comprehensive set of Maru Meghval ornaments. Many are of Rajasthani style, made by a goldsmith who has carried their style from Rajasthan to Sindh to Kutch.
